Conflict of Interest
A simple definition of corporate conflict of interest would be a situation where a company has a vested interest which may make them an unreliable source. According to teamsweat.org, between 1997 and 2008, Nike was involved in a potential conflict of interest with the U.S. Government. According to an analysis of government travel records, Nike, along with several other corporations, "footed the bill for more than 22,000 trips at a cost of $26 million" (teamsweat.org). The article states that Nike did this to shape policies and do business with the U.S. military. Nike's Code of Ethics does give guidelines for their employees on conflict of interest, but not on the corporation itself.
