Stages of Ethical Reasoning
After reviewing Kohlberg's Stages of Ethical Reasoning, I believe that NIke falls under the 5th stage of the post-conventional level. The fifth stage, social contract driven, states that, "a person is focused on individual rights and the development of standards based on critical examination--that is, something is right or wrong because it has withstood scrutiny by the society in which the principle is accepted" (Ghillyer 12).
While conducting my research, I have noticed over and over that Nike wants its employees to be empowered and share their ideas with management. Even though NIke doesn't make its major decisions by a company wide majority vote, the top level managers make sure that every voice is heard, because the believe there is value in every employee.
