Corporate Governance
Since LEGO was founded in 1932 by the Kirk Kristiansen family, it has always been a private business. The owners are on the board of directors so it helps with day-to-day business. Because LEGO is a privately owned business, the "governance standards...make sense in the context of a family ownership that employs a professional management team and has an independent Board of Directors." All of these people in the board play important roles in running the business.
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen (Former CEO)
DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: Sofie Kirk Kiær Kristiansen (Fourth generation of LEGO family)
DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: Thomas Kirk Kristiansen (Fourth generation of LEGO family)
MEMBER OF THE BOARD: Jørgen Vig Knudstorp (CEO master of economics)
MEMBER OF THE BOARD: Mette Morsing
MEMBER OF THE BOARD: William E. Hoover
Is the board the right size? (8 to 15 members)
The board of directors is not the right size, this is probably because it is a privately owned business and they trust each other better to accomplish the goals.
Does LEGO take the right measures to build trust among directors?
Yes they do. If they do not, then that is sad that they do not trust their friends and family.
